Training Weekend 2009

Hi,

Just thinking about the training weekend for later this year.
Anyone know any good venues or are people happy to go to the Lakes again and more importantly do people want a training weekend?

Andi
Rob

I would definitely be up for another training weekend around the same time as last year.

My vote would be for the Lakes again but im happy to go with the flow.
Huddo

Count me in too, the Lakes would be good again or Benidorm!!!
NAVIGATOR

Count me in. Lakes would be great as i'm planing on doing the Bob Graham round next summer and need as much lakeland running as poss.
Hope it's a bit dryer this year!

Can't blame me for the weather!!!!

The BG is real tough, you know all the route?
NAVIGATOR

I know a lot of it . planing on spending much of  the summer receing  the route. I am actualy thinking of doing the the double BG for charity, not sure if i.m up to 48 hours of lakeland running  but hey in for a penny in for a pound.

I will be looking for helpers to run sections with me  if anyone is interested ? Lee D was goin to run it as well, still may the way he's talking !!!

The second link is where we went last September.
There will be many other places.  The first link is totally self catering which wold mean no fresh english breakfast!!!

We could tie the weekend in with this event http://www.lakelandtrails.org/derwentwater/index.htm if people wanted?

Nice one Andi, either of the hostels would do me . I would also like to have a go at the trail race. Cheers Phil.

I think Rob knows of an easy fell run from the new hostel, over a hill called Hellvelyn or somthing!!!

Bury Hut happens to be managed by John Browns GF dad which i didn't know at the time of posting the link.
John has stayed there several times.  He described it as cheap but suitable for a training weekend.  Good kitchen in the building.  One problem people might have is that the area is very hilly.  No flat running close by due to location.  Does this bother people.
Its about 20 mins from Keswick which is where the Saturday trail race is being held from for those interested in doing that.

Sounds good to me Andi (although I like Dave's suggestion of Spain).  I can't run up a hill to save my life so the more hilly it is the better.  Let me know if you want any help organising it - I will try and persuade some of the girls to come along.  Will you try and persuade Donna to come along? Very Happy
AK

Yeh count me in.

Need to ask Joe when his 21st is as it is simliar time as to when we went last year.

Not bothered where we go as long as there is pear cider and flapjacks!
bailey

vinber

Sounds good to me - especially if we 'oldies' get to watch you young uns run up that hill at Keswick in the race this year.

Surely the weather cant stop the race again Vin.
So, anyone any preference on location to stop?
Bury Hut- Cheap and hilly
Adventure centre known by us  and better for a mix of flat and hilly runs.

Cheap sounds dodgy to me Andi - although I know everyone else will disagree with me!  Will we still get fed in the morning at the cheap place - food is the most important thing for me  Smile
roadrunner

No you wont get fed at the cheaper place, but the answer to that is rather simple.  It has a well equipped kitchen, you are coming and you are female therefore can cook.  So we will all get fed!
Billymar

I would be happy anywhere in the lakes the last place was good and there was no hasle of cooking and washing up.   Cool
