Hi everyone -

The FLM site (www.london-marathon.co.uk) has just put up a free route planner facility that allows you to measure out a run with the aid of satellite navigation. It will also give mile/km markers.

Quite a useful tool if you're a technophobe like me and the prospect of investing in a Garmin Forerunner 305 brings you out in a rash.

I tried it on a couple of known routes and can confirm it's accuracy.

You just need to register your details and say "yes" to yet more spam email from Mr Bedford.

Gerry

Bedford said we are all shit. How will this help us to run quicker? It was only earlier this year he told us all to stop playing playstation games and get out training.

Roadrunner -

I really don't know what it is about that guy. What ever happened to positive encouragement and mentoring? Anyone can make derogatory comments about the state of the sport but what does that achieve? We are where we are.

Seems to me that he's got a chip on each shoulder. He's never been the same since the 118 ads were launched and started talking the p1ss out of his bushy tache and red sock combo. Claimed he had some sort of copyright on "the look" Hmmm....

And he's allegedly got it in for Northerners. He was spitting features at the Adidas Liverpool HM this year when a group of youngsters who he approached to help remove timing chips told him where to get off 'cos he was offering them a pitance. Errr...ever heard of The Minimum Wage, Dave? Not altogether surprising to read that only the Silverstone race survives in 2007.

God knows what he thinks of the likes of me - from an ethnic minority and living in the North.

Let's hope he doesn't mistake me for someone who gives a sh1t.

Back in Bedfords day he used to work 26 hours a day with nowt but a couple of apples and a bag of nuts as pay. He then had to go home and look after his twelve kids single handedly, but still found time to run 250 miles a week!! Shame on all of us for not being able to juggle the demands of a full time job, family and training schedule unlike the great man.
Thanks for the post Gerry, looks very easy to use.
